Something not working?
Email support@coffeeaeye.com and include your phone model and Android version. Most things below are quicker to fix yourself.
The AI model won't download
Coffee Aeye downloads its on-device AI model once, the first time you set the app up. It is a large file, so it needs wi-fi and a few minutes. If it stalls:
- Check you have space free — the model needs room to unpack as well as download.
- Stay on wi-fi and keep the app in the foreground until it finishes.
- If a download failed halfway, start it again from Settings; a partial file is discarded rather than resumed.
Once the model is on your phone, nothing else needs a connection.
A bag scanned wrong
Label layouts vary enormously between roasters, and some are printed on foil or in very low contrast. If a field comes out wrong:
- Tap the field on the bag profile and correct it by hand — the correction is kept.
- Re-shoot in even light with the label filling the frame and no glare across the text.
- Photograph front and back. Roast date, process and elevation are usually on the back.
Bluetooth scales won't connect
- Grant the app the Bluetooth permission and turn location on — Android requires both for BLE scanning.
- Make sure the scale isn't already paired to another app or phone; most brew scales only hold one connection.
- Power-cycle the scale and start the pairing from inside a brew, not from Android's Bluetooth settings.
Grinder settings look wrong
Grind numbers are converted from a reference scale to your grinder's own clicks using two anchor points you set. If the numbers look off, re-enter the anchors in Settings — a bad anchor skews every conversion after it. If your grinder isn't in the list, add it as a custom grinder.
Moving to a new phone
Use the backup export in Settings. It writes a single archive containing your bags, recipes, brew history and preferences, which you can share to yourself and import on the new device. Because everything is stored locally, there is no cloud sync and no account to log back into — without an export, the data does not travel.
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play, so refunds go through Google rather than through us. Play offers a self-serve refund shortly after purchase, and requests after that window go to Google support. If you hit a bug that made the app unusable, email us — it is usually faster to fix it than to refund it.
Feature requests and bugs
Both welcome at support@coffeeaeye.com. For a bug, the useful details are: what you were doing, what happened, your phone model, and whether it repeats. For a scan problem, a photo of the bag label helps more than anything else.
